The family behind Hearth & Hound
Hearth & Hound is two people, one Dalmatian, and one very unbothered cat. Brandon and Rebecca Stone run it from home. Bear and Charlotte run us.
We started posting because our friends kept asking the same questions: what do you feed him, how did you teach that, is that toy actually worth it. The answers were scattered across a dozen browser tabs and a folder of vet-school PDFs. So we started writing them down in plain English, filming Bear proving or disproving the theory, and letting Charlotte judge us from the windowsill.
That turned into a following we still don't quite believe.
Meet the two who actually run this
Bear
Our Dalmatian. Playful, loud, and physically incapable of a subtle entrance. He's the face of everything dog, our recall test dummy, and the reason we know so much about spotted-dog quirks.
Charlotte
The cat. Calm, watchful, and completely certain she outranks Bear. She's the contrast to all his chaos and the closest thing this brand has to an editor.
What we actually do
Three things, and we try to do each one honestly:
- Research-backed dog food and recipes. Our Cookbook recipes are built from published sources, not vibes, and every ingredient earns its place in the bowl.
- Reward-based dog training. Dog Training 101 is the recall, leash, and manners work we ran with Bear, written for a first-time owner, no shock collars, no dominance nonsense.
- Honest product picks. When we point you at a product, it's one we use or would use on Bear and Charlotte. If we earn a commission, we say so on the page.
The one thing we want you to know
We're not veterinarians, and we'll never pretend to be. When something is a medical question, we tell you to call your vet, because that's the real answer. What we are is obsessive about reading the actual source before we repeat a claim. We cite where a number comes from. We tell you when not to buy something. And if we get something wrong, we'd rather fix it than defend it.
Our honesty rule: We'd rather lose a sale than lose your trust. That's why you'll see us say "skip this one" on products we don't rate, and "ask your vet first" on anything medical. A pet brand you can't trust isn't worth following.
