Great dog food shouldn't cost a fortune — or a chemistry degree.

You want to feed your dog well. But the options all come with a catch.

  • Fresh-food subscriptions run hundreds of dollars a month.
  • Premium kibble still hides ingredients you can't picture.
  • Random homemade recipes online are often not nutritionally complete.
  • And every dog is a different size, age, and activity level.

The fix isn't fancier food. It's your own kitchen.

The Dog Owner's Cookbook gives you the same balanced, vet-referenced meals a fresh subscription sells — made at home, for a fraction of the price, with every ingredient chosen by you. Including the calcium and supplement step most homemade recipes skip, the one that actually makes a bowl complete.

29 recipes — and the system that holds them together.

Every recipe comes with portion sizes by dog weight, prep time, cost per batch, storage notes, easy variations, and a Bear rating. Here's some of what you'll be cooking.

A "Turkey Day" dog dinner, holiday cookie biscuits, pumpkin pie biscuits for fall, and watermelon pops for summer. Because birthdays count.

🐾

Dalmatian-safe, low-purine options

Dalmatians are prone to urate stones, so certain ingredients matter more for them. Every recipe is flagged as Dalmatian-safe or now-and-then — a detail most cookbooks never mention, and useful for any dog on a careful diet. (Always confirm a plan with your vet.)

Also in the book — the part that makes it a system

  • What dogs actually need: the four building blocks of a balanced bowl
  • Supplements for homemade diets — the calcium step most recipes skip
  • Safe, risky & toxic foods tables you'll check constantly
  • How much to feed, by weight and life stage
  • The batch-cooking method + a weekly cooking timeline
  • Serving-size quick reference for every recipe
  • How much money homemade food can save, with real math
  • Bear's favorite recipes and Charlotte's quality-control notes

This is recipe 11 of 29. Judge for yourself.

Classic peanut butter and banana dog biscuits from the cookbook

Classic Peanut Butter & Banana Biscuits

Difficulty: Easy Prep: 15 min 💰 Cost: ~$4 for ~40 biscuits 🐾 Bear rating: 5/5 paws

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-sensitive dogs)
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ¼ cup natural peanut butter — no xylitol, check the label
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1 egg + ½ cup water, added as needed

Method

  1. Mix into a dough, roll to ¼ inch, cut shapes.
  2. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 min until golden and hard.
  3. Cool completely — they firm up as they cool.

Every recipe ends with

  • Storage notes (2 weeks in a jar, 3 months frozen)
  • Easy variations — swap the banana for pumpkin purée, or press in a few blueberries
  • The Dalmatian-safe flag (this one: yes)
That's one of 29 — every recipe follows the same format, from full dinners to frozen treats.

Feed fresh for a fraction of the subscription price.

Fresh-food delivery services can run $150–300+ a month for one dog. The same style of balanced, home-cooked meal typically costs a fraction of that when you make it yourself — and you control every ingredient.

We'd rather show you the real numbers than hype them. Run your own dog through our free calculator to see the exact comparison before you spend a cent on the book.

Fresh subscription~$270/mo
Premium store-bought~$120/mo
Homemade (this cookbook)~$100/mo

The cookbook: $14.99, once. Less than two days of a typical fresh-food subscription.

Illustrative estimates for a ~50 lb dog. Your real numbers depend on your dog and ingredients — that's exactly what the calculator works out.

Bear the Dalmatian, chief taste tester

Nothing goes in the book until Bear approves it.

We're a family brand, not a faceless label. Every recipe is cooked in our own kitchen and taste-tested by Bear, our Dalmatian, before it ever reaches you. If he turns his nose up, it doesn't make the cut — which is why every recipe in the book carries a Bear rating out of 5 paws.

🐾 Bear rating on every recipe Bear's Favorites chapter Charlotte's Quality Control Notes (yes, the cat gets a chapter)
"He inhaled four before they finished cooling. I sampled none. The data speaks for itself."
— Charlotte, resident critic

Good to know before you buy

How do I get the cookbook after I buy?

It's an instant digital download. The moment your payment clears, we email you a secure link to the PDF — no shipping, no waiting, no account to create.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay $14.99 once and the cookbook is yours forever, including free updates whenever we improve it.

Are the recipes actually balanced and safe?

Yes. Every recipe is vet-referenced, and the Fundamentals chapter covers the calcium and supplement step most homemade recipes skip — the thing that makes a bowl nutritionally complete rather than just a nice meal. We're also clear about when to check with your own vet.

Will the portions work for my size of dog?

Every recipe lists portion sizes by dog weight and scales for any breed, age, and size. Pair it with our free dog food calculator for exact daily portions.

I have a Dalmatian — can they eat these?

The cookbook flags low-purine, Dalmatian-safe recipes, which matters because Dalmatians are prone to urate stones. Always confirm a plan with your vet for a stone-prone dog.

Is it really cheaper than store-bought?

For most owners, home-cooked balanced meals cost far less than a fresh-food subscription and often beat premium store-bought — while giving you full control of every ingredient. Our calculator shows the exact comparison for your dog.

What if it's not right for me or my dog?

Reply to your delivery email within 30 days and we'll refund you. No forms, no hoops.
